Lesson 1 - sentence structure

Masculine and feminine nouns have different endings in both the singular and plural.
The verb “to be” is implied, and not written or spoken, in the present tense. 

Masculine plural nouns typically end with -im (ים).
Feminine plural nouns typically end with -ot (ות).



English Transliteration Hebrew
I am a teacher. a-ni mo-re. אני מורה.
I am a teacher. a-ni mo-ra. אני מורה.
You are a student. a-ta stu-dent. אתה סטודנט.
You are a student. at stu-den-tit. את סטודנטית.
He is Israeli. hu is-re-e-li. הוא ישראלי.
She is Israeli. hi is-re-e-lit. היא ישראלית.
We are teachers. a-nakh-nu mo-rim. אנחנו מורים.
We are teachers. a-nakh-nu mo-rot. אנחנו מורות.
You are students. a-tem stu-den-tim. אתם סטודנטים.
You are students. a-ten stu-den-ti-yot. אתן סטודנטיות.
They are Israeli. hem is-re-e-lim. הם ישראליים.
They are Israeli. hen is-re-e-li-yot. הן ישראליות.
I am hungry. a-ni ra-ev. אני רעב.
I am hungry. a-ni re-e-va. אני רעבה.
You are smart. a-ta pi-ke-akh. אתה פיקח.
You are smart. at pik-khit. את פיקחית.
He is American. hu a-me-ri-kai. הוא אמריקאי.
She is American. hi a-me-ri-kait. היא אמריקאית.
We are hungry. a-nakh-nu re-e-vim. אנחנו רעבים.
We are hungry. a-nakh-nu re-e-vot. אנחנו רעבות.
You are smart. a-tem pik-khim. אתם פיקחים.
You are smart. a-ten pik-khi-yot. אתן פיקחיות.
They are American. hem a-me-ri-kaim. הם אמריקאיים.
They are American. hen a-me-ri-kai-yot. הן אמריקאיות.
