Lesson 27 - imperative

The imperative is used to give commands.
In every day speech, the 2nd person future (singular or plural) is generally used.
Negate with אל.
Only 5 of the 7 binyanim have the imperative form - pu'al and huf'al don't have it.
English Transliteration Hebrew
Sit in silence. shev be-she-ket. שב בשקט.
Take the money. kakh et ha-ke-sef. קח את הכסף.
Leave me alone. a-zov o-ti. עזוב אותי.
Drive faster. sa ma-her yo-ter. סע מהר יותר.
Pay attention. sim lev. שים לב.
Speak to me. da-ber i-ti. דבר איתי.
Give me a hand. ten li yad. תן לי יד.
Come to me. bo e-lai. בוא אלי.
Wake up at 7am or you'll be late. kum be-she-va ba-bo-ker, o she-te-a-kher. קום בשבע בבוקר, או שתאחר.
Come in. ti-ka-nes. תיכנס.
Lie down and go to sleep. shkhav ve-lekh li-shon. שכב ולך לישון.
Please excuse me. slakh li be-va-ka-sha. סלח לי בבקשה.
Close the door. sgor et ha-de-let. סגור את הדלת.
Move aside please. zuz ha-tsi-da be-va-ka-sha. זוז הצידה בבקשה.
Shut up already. shtok kvar. שתוק כבר.
Fuck off. zda-yen mi-po. זדיין מפה.
Open the gate please. ptakh et ha-sha-ar be-va-ka-sha. פתח את השער בבקשה.
Bend over and wait for the nurse. hit-ko-fef ve-am-ten la-a-khot. התכופף והמתן לאחות.
Subtract expenses from revenues, and get the profit.hakh-ser ho-tsa-ot me-hakh-na-sot, ve-te-ka-bel et ha-re-vakh.החסר הוצאות מהכנסות, ותקבל את הרווח.
Multiply by 4 to convert USD to ILS.hakh-pel be-ar-ba al me-nat le-ha-mir do-la-rim be-shka-lim. הכפל בארבע על מנת להמיר דולרים בשקלים.
Tell me, why did you do that? ta-gid li, la-ma a-si-ta et ze? תגיד לי, למה עשית את זה?
You're snoring! Roll over! a-ta no-kher! tit-ha-pekh! אתה נוחר! תתהפך!
Bring me a beer. ta-vi li bi-ra. תביא לי בירה.
Hurry up and get dressed. te-ma-her le-hit-la-besh. תמהר להתלבש.
Explain to me why you did that. tas-bir li la-ma a-si-ta et ze. תסביר לי למה עשית את זה.
Don't worry, said the fish. al tid-ag, a-mar ha-dag. אל תדאג, אמר הדג.
