Lesson 12 - possession (to have)

Hebrew does not have a verb for 'to have'.
Instead of "I have...", for example, they say "There is to me…" and "I don't have…" = "There isn't to me…".
English Transliteration Hebrew
I have yesh li יש לי
I don't have ein li אין לי
you have yesh le-kha יש לך
you don't have ein le-kha אין לך
you have yesh lakh יש לך
you don't have ein lakh אין לך
he has yesh lo יש לו
he doesn't have ein lo אין לו
she has yesh la יש לה
she doesn't have ein la אין לה
we have yesh la-nu יש לנו
we don't have ein la-nu אין לנו

you have yesh la-khen יש לכן
you don't have ein la-khen אין לכן
they have yesh la-hem יש להם

English Transliteration Hebrew
I have two eyes. yesh li shtei ei-na-yim. יש לי שתי עיניים.
I have no idea. ein li mu-sag. אין לי מושג.
Do you have any siblings? yesh le-kha a-khim? יש לך אחים?
You don't have patience. ein le-kha sav-la-nut. אין לך סבלנות.
Do you have a black dog? yesh lakh ke-lev sha-khor? יש לך כלב שחור?
You don't have time for this. ein lakh zman le-ze. אין לך זמן לזה.
Does he have a car? yesh lo me-kho-nit? יש לו מכונית?
No, he doesn’t have a car. lo, ein lo me-kho-nit. לא, אין לו מכונית.
She has a small apartment. yesh la di-ra kta-na. יש לה דירה קטנה.
She doesn't have a big house. ein la ba-yit ga-dol. אין לה בית גדול.
We have a lot of homework. yesh la-nu har-be shi-u-rei ba-yit. יש לנו הרבה שיעורי בית.
We don't have plans tonight. ein la-nu tokh-ni-yot le-ha-e-rev. אין לנו תוכניות להערב.
Do you have children? yesh la-khem ye-la-dim? יש לכם ילדים?
You don't have children? ein la-khem ye-la-dim? אין לכם ילדים?
You have a beautiful dog. yesh la-khen ke-lev ya-fe. יש לכן כלב יפה.
Why don't you have a cat? la-ma ein la-khen kha-tul? למה אין לכן חתול?
They have a lot of money. yesh la-hem har-be ke-sef. יש להם הרבה כסף.
They don't have much money. ein la-hem har-be ke-sef. אין להם הרבה כסף.
They have class now. yesh la-hen shi-ur akh-shav. יש להן שיעור עכשיו.
They don't have class this week. ein la-hen shi-ur ha-sha-vu-a. אין להן שיעור השבוע.
Daniel has a nice bicycle. le-dan-yel yesh o-fa-na-yim ya-fim. לדניאל יש אופניים יפים.
Sharon and Maya don't have bicycles. le-sha-ron u-ma-ya ein o-fa-na-yim. לשרון ומאיה אין אופניים.
Who has a pen? le-mi yesh et? למי יש עט?
Who doesn't have… le-mi ein…? למי אין...?
